Before contacting Cogent, our company was a bit unorganized. No one really had defined job descriptions and everyone did a little bit of everything. This led to too many hands being in the same pot which created tons of confusion for everyone. Our bid prices were too low and our overhead was too high. We began to feel very stressed with our workloads and couldn’t seem to get out of our own way.
When Cogent stepped in to help us, we started small. Things like getting out of the yard earlier than normal, have materials shipped to job sites rather than the yard. We started to look at recurring payments and other costs to build our overhead budget. Matt was also able to define our roles both inside and outside of the office so that we weren’t duplicating work or missing out on something altogether.
Within a few weeks we started noticing little changes and noticed attitudes were also changing. Employees seemed more excited and more optimistic about the future and started working together much better than in the past. Over the next couple of months we made changes to our management structure and made changes in the way be bid projects and how we managed each project. We started keeping an eye on things we could control and it helped with cash flow tremendously.
I would recommend Cogent to any company that was in our position. We all have learned a lot over the past few months. The tools we now have can push us farther in the future and help us become an ever better company than before!
