Jim Single brings to Cogent Analytics more than 25 years of experience in assisting small businesses to be operationally sound, and increasingly successful. As a graduate of Bentley University in Boston, Jim majored in both Management and Accounting. After a long-term position of Project Manager at a fortune 50 company, Jim decided to switch roles and become a small business owner, before returning to the field of management and operational consulting. These experiences working with many situations, circumstances, and facets of a variety of companies has offered Jim a depth of knowledge in helping to bring about the goals of a business of any size.
Jim has worked with over one thousand privately held companies ranging from $2-250 Million in annual sales. He has worked with clients in various industries, ranging from contractors, manufacturers, distributors, retailers, and professional service firms. This variety is something in which Jim finds great enjoyment.
When working with clients Jim uses his instincts, experience and education to develop systems, procedures and solutions that are easy to use for the client and their employees. In most cases, Jim modifies and improves the current systems, as he believes most often simply “tweaking the wheel” as opposed to “re-inventing the wheel” is the most prudent and positive way to bring about desired change. In doing this he finds that the companies with which he collaborates find the solutions put in place easier to use and more widely accepted by employees, bringing about long-term change and continued success.
